At the young age of 11, Kotoko Iwanaga was abducted by youkai for two weeks and asked to become their "God of Wisdom," a mediator between the spirit and human worlds, to which the girl quickly agreed but at the cost of her right eye and left leg. Now, six years later, whenever youkai wish for their problems to be solved, they make their way to Kotoko for consultation. Meanwhile, Kurou Sakuragawa, a 22-year-old university student, has just broken up with his girlfriend after he fled alone when the two encountered a kappa. Seeing this as her chance to become closer with him, Kotoko immediately makes her move, hoping to get married to Kurou one day. However, she quickly realizes there is something more to Kurou. With this knowledge, she asks for his help in solving the various issues presented by the supernatural, all the while wishing her newfound partner will eventually reciprocate her feelings. The first story comprises of 6 volumes, but I stopped at volume 5 because it was becoming a chore to read. There is too much text for this to be a manga. According to the author\'s notes, the manga is an adaptation of the original novel. It is often mentioned in these notes that there was a problem with putting too much text in a single panel, and it turned out to be true. The story is good, but does not have enough depth to warrant such a long reading effort. I would rather spend my time and money on other manga.

I just checked this out on a whim after seeing it had an upcoming anime this winter, and since it wasn\'t that popular and had a score below 8, I didn\'t expect that much. I\'ve only read 6 chapters (though this manga has long chapters, around 80 pages with lots of text), but so far I\'m very positively surprised. The art is great, the characters are interesting, witty and intelligent without being overly abstract minded and unrelatable (unlike say Monogatari characters), the world seems interesting and well thought out (though not super unique), and so far I\'ve enjoyed it a lot.\r\n\r\nThe first thing that springs\n ...\n to mind is that it reminds me a lot of Noragami, and maybe a little of Monogatari, but with more if an edgy horror leaning than those two, which is definitively not a bad thing. It seems to be a mystery story, though if that\'s the core theme or just an aspect isn\'t really clear so far. \r\n\r\nAlso bonus points for nice character designs, MC looks like a mix between Violet Evergarden and Tanya von Degurechaff, which I can\'t hate! Cop girl and main guy also has nice looking designs.\r\n\r\nNo idea if it\'s able to deliver on the strong start, or what direction the story is going, but I\'m looking forward to read on. The scores are mostly just placeholder.

I won\'t rehash the story. The synopsis covers the basics, though it does have one point wrong. (It is consistent with how it is first presented in the manga though, so I suspect that whomever wrote the synopsis didn\'t read very far.) As it progresses, this story could be said to touch on low-grade horror. (I\'ve read 4 volumes so far)\r\n This manga is unusual in that it accurately portrays the maturity levels of the characters. The teen acts like one, so do those in their 20s and 30s. Both body language and speech are consistent with their\n ...\n age.\r\n The story is unfolding nicely, with occasional humor to break the otherwise unrelenting drama. There are no sudden revelations, rather what we learn builds slowly, and how it builds makes sense.\r\n Yes. This is a very well crafted story. \r\n The only problem is that, at times, it sounds like a poorly edited light novel. There is too much, unnecessary exposition. The flow would be better if there were less.\r\n Overall I\'d still rate this at about an 8.5.
